Founded in 1989, SAI is a full service architectural design firm, offering innovative design solutions for both modern and traditional projects. Led by Suheil Shatara, SAI has successfully completed hundreds of projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and the Middle East, focusing the majority of its design work in urban settings.  The studio’s design philosophy emphasizes creating functional, elegant spaces that enhance the human experience.

With an intimate knowledge of Bay Area building codes and the required departmental agencies, SAI processes projects efficiently, balancing innovation and creativity with pragmatism and experience. SAI has developed a diverse portfolio containing residential and mixed-use buildings, interiors, restaurants, boutiques, supermarkets, institutional and industrial facilities.

Historic Preservation

SAI specializes in handling historical restorations and renovations in a practical manner. As a way of contributing to this community and preserving its cultural heritage, Suheil Shatara was a member of the San Francisco Landmarks Advisory Board for 11 years.
